The book is written mainly in Latin, but also includes a significant amount of text written in French. There are three prayers written entirely in French, and the majority of the rubrics for the Latin prayers are also written in French.  The first French prayer begins on folio 54r and ends on folio 55r; the next two span fol. 83r-v and 83v-85v. The ending of the last French prayer is missing from the manuscript, which ends at this point. These prayers are written in Middle French, a style of French that was used between the 14th and 17th centuries. Most Parisian Book of Hours’ calendars are written in French; the Hargrett Hours is unusual because its calendar is written in Latin.
